Wilkinson Staffing Agency has an opening for a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Worker
Location: Columbus, GA
Key Responsibilities
1. General Maintenance and Repairs
- Perform minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry work as needed.
- Conduct routine inspections and troubleshoot issues with equipment, fixtures, and systems.
- Repair or replace faulty components, such as light fixtures, locks, or plumbing fixtures.
- Maintain equipment by checking for wear and tear and conducting preventative maintenance.
2. Facility Upkeep
- Keep the premises clean and well-organized, including routine tasks like sweeping, mopping, and disinfecting areas.
- Monitor and replace supplies in common areas, restrooms, and maintenance closets.
- Ensure building systems, such as HVAC, are functioning properly and maintain appropriate temperature and ventilation.
3. Safety and Compliance
- Follow safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to avoid accidents.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, building codes, and other local laws.
- Respond to emergencies and breakdowns, assessing situations to determine if immediate repair or emergency services are needed.
4. Equipment and Tool Management
- Use and maintain various hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Inspect and perform basic maintenance on equipment such as power washers, compressors, and other machinery.
- Keep track of tool inventory and report damaged or missing tools.
5. Documentation and Reporting
- Record maintenance activities and repair work in maintenance logs.
- Maintain accurate records for work orders and completed tasks.
- Communicate repair or replacement needs to the appropriate department or supervisor.
6. Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with other maintenance staff and departments to coordinate efforts and complete tasks.
- Respond to service requests from staff or tenants and communicate effectively to understand the problem and provide solutions.
- Assist in training new maintenance staff and providing guidance on best practices.
Requirements
Education
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certifications in maintenance, plumbing, electrical work, or HVAC are a plus.
Experience
Previous experience in a maintenance or repair role is preferred.
Skills
- Strong mechanical and technical skills for diagnosing and fixing issues.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
- Good problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Effective time management and ability to prioritize tasks.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs or more) and perform physical tasks.
- Stamina to work on feet for extended periods and handle physical exertion.
- Ability to climb ladders, bend, crouch, and reach overhead as needed.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed indoors and/or outdoors, depending on the facility.
- The role may involve exposure to various elements such as heat, cold, and inclement weather conditions.
- Some tasks may include working in confined spaces or high places.
- Availability for on-call duties or emergency situations, including evenings, weekends, or holidays.
Key Competencies
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.

Preferred Certification
- OSHA Safety Certification.
- Certifications in specialized fields (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical)
