Position Summary: The Sales Associate/Cashier is responsible for assisting customers at Ace Hardware in all areas, most importantly establishing and maintaining customer relations.
Principal Duties:
The Sales Associate/Cashier will assist customers in a positive manner that promotes a favorable image of the cooperative and serves the needs of the customer. The primary responsibilities of the position include:
· Greet and service all customers with a friendly attitude
· Actively engages in cross-selling other products to customers to satisfy the customers’ needs and obtain our internal goals.
· Operate a cash register/credit card terminal and accurately count/handle money transactions.
· Assists customers with questions, locating various products, resolving complaints, or providing information
· Perform duties related to opening and closing the store for business.
· Perform stocking, facing, and rotating products while checking for expiration dates.
· Perform indoor/outdoor housekeeping duties to include, but not limited to sweeping/mopping, emptying trash and general cleaning of restrooms.
· Reports to work at the assigned/scheduled time.
· Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Education and Experience:
· Previous retail experience preferred but not required.
Skills and Abilities Required:
· Ability to operate available equipment, such as cash registers, calculators, or scanners.
· Basic mathematical skills, as needed to make change and give refunds.
· Must be able to follow verbal and written directions in regards to paperwork and daily reporting.
· Knowledgeable about company’s products and services, and customer-related policies.
· Must be able to lift a minimum of ten (10) pounds frequently and up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally.
· Must be patient and helpful to exceed the customer’s expectations.
