      Requirements:
      • Bachelor's Degree or Higher from an accredited institution in the field of Athletic Training or similar studies
      • Valid Maine State Athletic Training License
      • Valid NATA Certification
      • Previous experience in Athletic Training
      • Valid driver's license
      • Maine Department of Education CHRC background check
      • Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff and guests in a clear, professional and courteous manner which fosters a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative work environment
      Reports to: The Director of Athletics & Student Activities who provides overall objectives, direction, and final evaluation.

      Job Description:
      • The Athletic Trainer works under the direct supervision of the Director of Athletics & Activities and the Department of Athletics/Activities and is expected to provide the necessary leadership to plan, organize, and be responsible for a comprehensive sports medicine program that will meet the objectives of the total school athletic program.
      • The Athletic Trainer is responsible for working with student-athletes, parents, coaches and doctors in designing, implementing and managing emergency care, injury assessment, prevention and management, treatment, and rehabilitation programs for student-athletes.
      • The Athletic Trainer is expected to be a positive role model and is expected to maintain effective communication with athletes, school administration, staff, students, parents and the community.
      Duties:
      • Directs daily athletic training room operations
      • Supervises, schedules and assigns Assistant Athletic Trainer
      • Oversees and implements the ImPact Concussion Testing Annually and seasonally
      • Ensures all Local, state and federal laws, rules and policies are followed as it relates to concussion management and Return-to-Play Protocols.
      • Ensures proper record keeping of all athletic injuries
      • Understand and strictly follow all HIPPA, FERPA and all medical records laws and regulations.
      • Responsible for giving basic instruction to athletic department staff members in the prevention and care of athletic injuries
      • Assists in educating athletes and coaches on injury prevention techniques, proper stretching, pre-post game programs
      • Responsible for referring athletic injuries to physicians for diagnosis and/or treatment
      • Manages and advises the coaching staff regarding injury prevention, conditioning programs, and the selection, care and fitting of protective equipment.
      • Develops, implements and works collaboratively with the athletic department and other necessary personnel on emergency procedures for after school activities and all campus and non campus venus
      • Ensure coaches are educated on all Emergency Action Plans in the absence of Training staff
      • Determines if a student-athlete is capable of continued participation in a game and/or practice if the student-athlete is injured.
      • Develops and supervises appropriate rehabilitation programs for student-athletes.
      • Responsible for the organization, inventory, and requisition of all athletic training room supplies.
      • Responsible for proper handling and disposal of bodily fluids and other biohazards, materials, and waste.
      • Responsible for monitoring environmental hazards (i.e. Lightning, humidity levels, etc.) and communicating with coaches regarding when to follow EAP
      • Responsible for documentation for injury evaluation and daily injury treatments.
      • Shall work together with supporting health professionals (i.e. school nurses, E.M.T.’s physicians, physical therapists) to provide a high quality of care for student-athletes.
      • Communicate daily with the school nursing staff
      • Responsible for the distribution, inspection, and stocking of emergency first aid kits.
      • Providing athletic training coverage for home contests for all interscholastic contests and/or treatment of student-athletes
      • Provides and schedule appropriate coverage for on campus practices
      • Provide athletic training coverage for visiting teams on campus when needed
      • Provided athletic training coverage for all tournament contests on campus unless otherwise provided
      • Provide athletic training coverage throughout each sport season, including weekend, holidays, and school vacations when and as necessary.
      • Responsible for maintaining continuing education standards for national certification and state licensure.
      • Shall perform other duties as assigned by Director of Athletics
