Head Cataloging Librarian develops cataloging policies and procedures and implements improvement. Manages staff and student assistants in all formats cataloging following updated workflows. Being a Head Cataloging Librarian creates metadata schema to ensure efficient workflow for metadata projects. Typically requires a master's degree. Additionally, Head Cataloging Librarian typically reports to top management. The Head Cataloging Librarian manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Cataloging Librarian typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The ideal candidate is knowledgeable about library trends for children aged 0-6 and their caregivers and is passionate about providing early literacy experiences in a library setting. This role is responsible for proactively ensuring library services reach current and new audiences and for delivering innovative programs and services to attract and serve a diverse population.

    Requirements
    Requires an MLS from an ALA accredited college or university. One year of related library experience required, and one year of working with community engagement, programming, and professional leadership is preferred. Indiana Public Library (LPL) Certification – Librarian Level 3 is required (or ability to obtain).

    Pay Grade 118
    Full-Time (37.5 Hrs./Wk.).
    Starting hourly wage begins at $21.37 | Compensation is commensurate with relevant experience/expertise.
