Head Nurse - Emergency Room jobs in Ohio

Head Nurse - Emergency Room directs nursing service activities in the emergency room. Delegates responsibilities to auxiliary and emergency room staff nurses; supervises preparation and maintenance of emergency room patient clinical records, and writes reports on emergency room staff performance and services rendered. Being a Head Nurse - Emergency Room maintains pre-set inventory standards for solutions, supplies, medicines and equipment, and keeps track of narcotics. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Additionally, Head Nurse - Emergency Room typically requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse - Emergency Room manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Nurse - Emergency Room typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     As an emergency room nurse (RN ER), you will be the first line of defense for patients who require any type of urgent medical care. You will treat patients who are suffering from trauma, injury or severe medical conditions. Working quickly to assess the condition of the patient, you will provide necessary care, monitor health conditions, administer medicine, and utilize medical equipment. Once the patient is stabilized and their medical problem is treated, you will then determine whether the patient should be discharged or make arrangements for a longer hospital stay.

    Minimum Requirements

    • At least 1 year of recent acute care experience in specialty
    • Active RN license
