Head Nurse - Obstetrics jobs in Oregon

Head Nurse - Obstetrics directs nursing service activities for assigned patients in the delivery room and birthing units. Delegates responsibilities to auxiliary and obstetrics staff nurses; supervises preparation and maintenance of obstetrics patient clinical records, and writes reports on obstetrics room staff performance and services rendered. Being a Head Nurse - Obstetrics maintains pre-set inventory standards for solutions, supplies, medicines and equipment, and keeps track of narcotics. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Additionally, Head Nurse - Obstetrics requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse - Obstetrics manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Nurse - Obstetrics typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     In addition, our team also follows the gold standards for staffing perinatal units, set forth by the leading authority in perinatal nursing, the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN). We also serve as the state's first - and only - Emergency Department for OB patients, where our OB hospitalists are on call 24/7, allowing our skilled nursing staff to have continuous physician support.

    What You'll Do

    • Collaborate interdepartmentally to deliver excellent mother- baby patient care
    • Provide excellent nursing care to patients with various acuities
    • Demonstrate organizational skills in the delivery of nursing care to patients with flexibility and a willingness to adjust priorities in response to changes in patient acuity, volume, emergencies, staffing or scheduling

    What You Must Have

    Education

    • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred

    Experience

    • Labor and delivery experience required or currently in the New Grad RN residency program
    • RN experience including circulation & recovery of C-sections and high-risk L&D/ante-partum care preferred

    License/Certification

    • RN: Registered Nurse licensed by Oregon State Board of Nursing required upon start
    • BLS: Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certified through the American Heart Association (AHA) required upon start
    • NRP: Neonatal Resuscitation Program must be obtained within 4 months of hire date
    • RNC-OB: Registered Nurse Certified-Inpatient Obstetrics Nurse, preferred
    • RNC-MNN: Registered Nurse Certified-Maternal Newborn Nurse, preferred
    • C-EFM: Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certified, preferred
