What You’ll Do as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner:
We are currently searching for a Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for our Elkhart Outpatient Clinic.
Duties include:
- Provide psychiatric Advanced Nurse Practice coverage for Oaklawn
- Provide diagnostic and direct treatment services for center clients
- Provide medical consultation and supervision to Oaklawn therapists
- Provide history and physical examinations on Oaklawn employees and patients.
The Nurse Practitioner interacts on a daily basis with patients and family members to provide direct care. The incumbent has contact with law enforcements officials and the court system as regards the care of patients with legal involvements, including appearance at court for commitments hearings. This position has contact by telephone as needed with managed care case managers and reviewing physicians, to certify payment for treatment. Regular contact exists with clinical staff throughout many Oaklawn programs, to gain collateral information, to coordinate care and to obtain information necessary to certify treatment plans. There is occasional contact with outside physicians or Nurse Practitioners for reasons of coordination of care.
The Nurse Practitioner is expected to provide clinical direction and leadership in all programs with which he or she is involved. The Nurse Practitioner will maintain a collaborative agreement with Staff Psychiatrists and Physicians.
Requirements:
- Valid Indiana Advanced Nurse Practitioner license with prescriptive authority and Certification as Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
