CACS Head Start is now hiring a LPN! The LPN performs a variety of nursing duties to include: planning, organizing and presenting health education and safety presentations for Head Start classrooms, children, parents, and staff. Administers various health and developmental screenings and monitors health records of Head Start children for potential problems. Initiates and works with community health agencies.
The rate of pay is $24.89 per hour, this is a full time position.
Qualifications
Education:
Must be a licensed practical nurse (LPN).
Experience:
One to three years of related experience in community health resources, health services, nursing and/or delivering services to preschool children and low-income families.
Position Duties/Responsibilities
Arranges and administers necessary screenings for Head Start children in accordance with EPSDT periodicity and Head Start Performance Standards.
Enters and attaches documentation of completed health requirements as needed and as described in the CACS Health Manual
Documents all health concerns and attaches documentation of care plans as needed and as described in the CACS Health Manual
Assists with getting needed medications, devices, and equipment to carry out the plan of care in the classroom, as needed
Utilizes the Michigan Care Improvement Registry to obtain child immunization records, attaches it, and enters the status as needed and described in the CACS Health Manual
Assists with ongoing monitoring and continuous improvement including program planning, implementation, and evaluation
Makes referrals for internal parent trainings/classes offered onsite or via partner opportunities
Provides health and safety training to staff and parents according to established policy and accredited safety programs.
Reviews health records of all Head Start Children to interpret/identify incomplete screenings and potential problems and initiates appropriate follow-up. Make referrals to mental health, disabilities and nutrition as needed.
Works in conjunction with nutrition, mental health and disabilities to provide consultation for issues requiring nursing education.
Provides consultation to classroom staff and parents relevant to children's health and safety needs. Which includes assisting in the classroom as needed.
Answers incoming phone calls and initiates phone contact in a professional and courteous manner as it relates to the health services department.
Completes a variety of computer tasks related to the health services department.
Develops and approves individual health care plans to meet the needs of children in the classroom whose health condition warrants classroom accommodations and train staff on how to implement the plan.
Transports program participants to meet program requirements as needed.
Maintains documentation related to all areas of the health services department, i.e.; documents screening results, review of child's health information, contact with families and/or staff in relation to individual child's health or programmatic health issues.
Maintains records related to trainings as required by certifying agency and Head Start Performance Standards.
Completes and submits all timesheets, reports and other data requests in a timely and accurate manner.

Assist with other duties as defined and/or requested by an Administrator or Supervisor when additional work is necessary to fulfill the obligations of the program.
