Head of Housekeeping directs and coordinates the daily operations of a housekeeping services department to ensure offices, patient/guest rooms, and other specified areas are kept in a clean and orderly condition. Conducts inspections of facilities and recommends repairs and upgrades when needed. Being a Head of Housekeeping ensures compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations. May create quality standards and monitors the implementation. Additionally, Head of Housekeeping may require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to top management. The Head of Housekeeping typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be a Head of Housekeeping typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Responsibilities:
- Perform general housekeeping duties, including cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing rooms and common areas
- Vacuum, mop, and sweep floors
- Dust and polish furniture and surfaces
- Clean windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces
- Empty trash bins and replace liners
- Replenish supplies such as toiletries and towels
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms and kitchens
- Follow established cleaning procedures and guidelines
- Adhere to health and safety regulations
- Provide excellent customer service to residents or guests
Skills:
- Experience in residential cleaning or housekeeping management preferred
- Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and use of cleaning equipment
- Ability to sanitate and maintain a clean and organized environment
- Familiarity with carpet cleaning and floor care techniques
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Excellent customer service skills to interact with residents or guests in a professional manner
- Ability to cook or prepare meals may be required in some cases
- Knowledge of laundering techniques for linens and other fabrics
- Basic custodial skills for maintaining the cleanliness of common areas
