Head of Intensive Care Unit manages and directs operations of the Intensive Care Unit. Develops and implements policies to ensure that ICU operates within budget and complies with established performance standards. Being a Head of Intensive Care Unit requires a bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN). Requires a valid state RN license. Additionally, Head of Intensive Care Unit typically reports to top management. The Head of Intensive Care Unit typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Job SummaryProvides professional nursing care to patients and families in an acute clinical care environment, guided by the SMHCS nursing professional practice model and in accordance with the ANA's Standards of Professional Practice.
Required Qualifications- Require 2 years of NICU experience
- Require basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.
- Require NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification within ninety (90) days of date of hire.
- Require graduate of an accredited school of nursing or a diploma program. For new hires after 2012, Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing (BSN) is required within specified timeframe as outlined in the New Hire BSN Agreement policy (126.045).
- Require any neonatal certification obtained during employment will be maintained during the remainder of employment. These include but are not limited to: High Risk Neonatal Nursing certification, Neonatal Transport certification, Child Passenger Safety Technician, any Lactation certification.
Preferred Qualifications- Prefer certification in nursing specialty area.

FL RN: FL Registered Nurse License
