The Head Head Sommelier identifies and purchases wines for the organization. Manages the daily activities necessary for maintenance and promotion of the organization's wine collection. Being a Head Head Sommelier works with the kitchen staff to develop food and wine pairings. Monitors the conditions of the wine cellar, ensuring optimal storage. In addition, Head Head Sommelier recommends and serves wine to guests. May require an associate's degree or its equivalent. May possess or be working towards certification. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. Working as a Head Head Sommelier typically requires 3-5 years of related experience.     PURPOSE:

    The Early Head Start (EHS) Teacher provides child education services to assigned children in duration services including child growth and development, curriculum planning and implementation to fidelity, and individualizing for children. This position partners with the Family Advocate in providing seamless, integrated service delivery to families. The EHS Teacher is responsible for meeting Head Start Performance Standards, Office of Child Care Regulations, and following the agency policies and procedures.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

    I. CHILD EDUCATION SERVICES - CENTER

    A. Follow all education policies and procedures and implement curriculum with fidelity.

    B. Ensure children are supervised at all times.

    C. Provide developmental screenings and follow-up screening and assist families with referral process to early intervention, as needed.

    D. Document ongoing observations and conduct child assessments with fidelity.

    E. Provide family conferences and establish child goals in collaboration with families.

    F. Plan and implement classroom environments that are rich in developmentally appropriate individualized curriculum and reflect responsive unhurried classroom routines supporting individual child care schedules.

    G. Debrief regularly with teaching team and Education support to inform next steps in environment, lesson plans, teaching strategies, team matrix, and child observations.

    H. Support and facilitate the development of nurturing parent/child relationships and actively engage families in participating in center services.

    I. Ensure Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) goals for children with disabilities are incorporated in curriculum plans.

    J. Collaborate with families in establishing guidance plans for children with special behavioral needs.

    K. Meet regularly with Family Advocate to consult on families, support attendance goals, and support integrated service delivery.

    L. Report suspected cases of child abuse or neglect in accordance with state law and agency policy.

    M. Maintain confidentiality of records and family information.

    N. Participate in cleaning and organizing of classrooms and outdoor environments.

    II. STAFF DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING

    A. Engage in training opportunities and meet all agency training requirements in a timely manner.

    B. Participate in the development of a Professional Development Plan and meet established goals.

    C. Participate in mental health consultations and reflective supervision sessions in order to more effectively work with families.

    D. Engage in coaching, teacher learning communities and/or professional learning communities as assigned.

    III. INTERACTIONS WITH CHILDREN, PARENTS, AND STAFF

    A. Must relate in a positive, nurturing way, both verbally and physically, and be sensitive to the needs of children, parents, and co-workers.

    B. Must use quick, safe reactions and responses in dealing with children or situations that involve children.

    VI. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND SAFETY

    A. Maintain a safe and positive work environment.

    B. Follow safety regulations, policies, and procedures.

    C. Actively participate in and contribute towards promoting a safe work place and environment.

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS :

    Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; and

    Child Development Associate (CDA) credential required

    OR

    Step 8 in Oregon Registry Pathways required.

    Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in an early childhood setting, or program working with pregnant women, or parents of infants and toddlers preferred.

    Certification/Accreditation : Enrollment in Oregon Registry required; Certified TS Gold Interrater Reliable required; Current CPR/First Aide (Adult and Pediatric) and Food Handler Certification required (may be obtain at Head Start after hire).

    Essential Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; high proficiency in the use of computer software programs and data bases; strong leadership and effective group facilitation skills; ability to apply sound understanding of infant/toddler growth and development to parent/child activities; ability to promote the growth and development of adults as parents; ability to work with parents and their children warmly, calmly, respectfully and in an encouraging and unhurried manner; ability to oversee both small and large groups of parents and children; possess a general knowledge of child nutrition, health, safety and special needs and a general knowledge of community resources for families.

    Bilingual EHS Teacher must possess sufficient language proficiency to facilitate interpretation and/or translation of written data in all forms and ability to provide accurate information to the public requiring bilingual assistance; must demonstrate understanding of inclusion of the Hispanic culture, language, values and practices in all services provided.

    Essential Mental Abilities: High initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to prioritize, resolution oriented; facilitate and/or manage multiple activities; Inform, explain, and exercise sound judgment; demonstrate flexibility, openness to change, and an understanding and acceptance of staff, child and family diversity; ability to remain alert and productive for extended periods of time; maintain confidentiality standards.

    Essential Physical Requirements: Ability to frequently lift/carry up to 40 lbs a distance of 10 feet; run 50 feet in 6 seconds; sufficient mobility and range of motion to perform intermittent standing, walking, balancing, stooping, bending, crouching, crawling, sitting on the floor, reaching, squatting or kneeling, twisting and ascend/descend steps; sit for long periods of time; frequently react quickly to the physical actions of children; operate a motor vehicle; sufficient vision, hearing, manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination to perform job duties.

    Exposure to Hazards: Repetitive motion tasks, sitting for long periods of time; unpredictable child and family behavior; hazardous chemicals; contagious conditions; work with personal computer and other office equipment; driving and riding in motor vehicles.

    Working Conditions: Driving and riding in motor vehicles; unpredictable child/client behaviors; work with personal computer and other office equipment; possible exposure to contagious conditions; occasional local travel.


    EMPLOYMENT CONTINGENT UPON:

    Criminal Background Registry enrollment

    Valid Oregon Driver license

    Proof of current personal automobile insurance in accordance with agency policy

    Three (3) years DMV court print driving record

    Approval to drive from Agency insurance carrier – requires at least 21 years of age
