The Head Head Sommelier identifies and purchases wines for the organization. Manages the daily activities necessary for maintenance and promotion of the organization's wine collection. Being a Head Head Sommelier works with the kitchen staff to develop food and wine pairings. Monitors the conditions of the wine cellar, ensuring optimal storage. In addition, Head Head Sommelier recommends and serves wine to guests. May require an associate's degree or its equivalent. May possess or be working towards certification. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. Working as a Head Head Sommelier typically requires 3-5 years of related experience. Sommelier/bartender

  • We are looking for a Sommelier/bartender to act as our wine/beverage expert and create wine/beverage lists that pair with our food menus. Noto's has received the Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator since 2003 and "Best Awards of Excellence since 2006. If you are passionate about wine especially Italian wines we have an amazing opportunity for you. You will be amazed by our Italian wine selection along with fine dining experiences especially in our most unique wine cellar.

    Sommelier/bartender responsibilities include recommending wine varieties/beverage to our guests, supervising wine/beverage serving and collaborating with winemaker/other vendors to renew our selections and achieve better prices. To be qualified for this role, you should have relevant experience in hospitality or a vineyard and be available to work during business hours. Ultimately, you will delight our guests by helping them choose the best wine/beverage to complement their fare.

    Building a bar/lounge team is a plus. Live music most Saturdays with potential to add more.

    Responsibilities

    • Create and update the wine list in coordination with chefs and the Food and Beverage Manager/Noto Family
    • Recommend food and wine pairings
    • Advise guests on wines based on their personal tastes and food choices
    • Inform guests about different varieties of wines and prices
    • Ensure wines are served at the right temperature and within the proper glassware
    • Store open bottles properly to maintain strong taste
    • Manage wine cellar and ensure it’s fully-stocked
    • Train wait staff on available wines
    • Negotiate purchase prices with vendors
    • Organize wine tasting days or “wine of the month” events
    • Ask guests for ID to verify legal drinking age
    • Comply with all health and safety regulations

    Requirements

    • Experience as a Sommelier, Wine Steward/Stewardess or similar role
    • Ability to create tasteful food and wine pairings
    • Extensive knowledge of different wines and which regions produce each type
    • Knowledge of local vineyards and wineries
    • Understanding of the winemaking process
    • Good communication skills
    • Availability to work during opening hours, including weekends and holidays
    • Flexibility to travel occasionally to meet with wine producers and visit wine-tasting events
    • Certification as a Sommelier or degree in hospitality is a plus

    Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

    Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
