Head Baker / Manager Position :

The role of the Head Baker / Manager is to lead the bakery with success by taking ownership of all things related to baking, maintaining an organized and efficient process for regular bakery operations, and overseeing daily operations of the bakery.

They execute Willow Creek Bakery’s high standards and hold their team accountable to these standards.

The Head Baker / Manager is a part of the leadership team and is responsible for day to day operations related to baking, managing and training the bakery staff, and deciding what kind of pastry, breads, baked goods, and other menu items will be served.

To be successful in this role, the Head Baker / Manager should have leadership experience, time management / organizational skills, excellent customer service, knowledge of baking and what the industry is doing / serving, and a motivation to keep the bakery clean and presentable.

This position’s compensation includes salary and tips and will be based on experience.

Duties : Assisting owners with sourcing needed bakingequipment / supplies and setting up the bakery to ensureproper flowAssisting owners with hiring bakery staffManaging and coordinating the bakery staffTraining & educating the team on the bakery’s process &policiesMonitoring deliveries, incoming orders and stockCosting out offerings to ensure margins are correct &ensuring profitability by maintaining an accurate recordof baking operationsEnsuring ingredients are properly managed & assessingthe quality of raw materials before bakingConducting research to develop original recipes forproducts and recommending recipes to renew our menuand attract more customersHelping to prepare, finish off and bake breadManaging quantities to be baked, ensuring we have stockbut also keeping waste to a minimum while discardingany pastry that does not meet our high qualitystandardsEnsuring the proper storage of baking utensils & thatequipment is properly maintainedSetting a positive tone and strong work ethic whileleading by exampleAssessing what needs accomplished, prioritizing anddelegating as neededKeeping the team motivated and working, checking forquality and thoroughnessComplying with health and safety regulations

Organizational skillsKeeping records relating to deliveries, inventory, andproduction levels.Hygiene awarenessCleaning and restocking workstations and ensuring thatall equipment is sanitized.

Understanding of food safety practicesAt least 2 years of similar experienceMeasuring and combining ingredients and using mixers,blenders, heat sources, and other equipment to makebaked goods, such as cookies, bread, cakes, etcTesting ingredients and finished goods to ensure thateach item meets food safety and quality controls.

Basic math and computer skills.Methodical approachAttention to detail, especially when performing qualityinspections on ingredients and products.
