Head Teller ensures the daily operational activities of the teller line are executed with accuracy and fulfill required service standards. Processes and records routine transactions, handles complex or unusual customer transactions, and answers more complex customer inquiries. Being a Head Teller depending on policy, may authorize certain transactions. Assists with teller onboarding, training, and guidance. Additionally, Head Teller is responsible for vault oversight and the daily auditing, reporting, and balancing processes. Oversees each teller's daily reconciliation and assists if needed. Ensures that tellers comply with all operating, regulatory, and security policies and procedures. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Head Teller supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Head Teller typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Primary Duties
· Build relationships and enhance member experience, respond to member requests in a friendly, helpful and positive manner
· Process transactions in a prompt, efficient, confidential and accurate manner
· Receives members’ payments, share deposits, cash checks, issues withdrawals (cash or check), etc. Properly completes all necessary paperwork involving these transactions. Process cash advances on Visa and MasterCard. Sell money orders, assists members with coin machine and the removal and replacement of bags, and etc.
· Maintain an up-to-date comprehensive knowledge on all credit union products and services that are handled or promoted by tellers. Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all related policies and procedures, rules, and regulations for the teller area, including robbery procedures.
· Balance cash drawer at the end of the shift and compare totaled amounts to computer generated proof sheet. Research and resolve discrepancies. Report any discrepancies to the head teller.
Miscellaneous
· Answers telephone, transfers calls to appropriate personnel, and answers inquiries concerning the credit union.
· Must be flexible with coverage at other branch locations
· Performs miscellaneous clerical duties in the credit union, as assigned.
