Health and Safety Administrator is responsible for identifying hazardous workplace conditions. Takes samples and measurements of hazardous materials, and coordinates the removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards. Being a Health and Safety Administrator trains employees on safety, company policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to employee safety. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations and ensures necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines. Additionally, Health and Safety Administrator participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor. To be a Health and Safety Administrator typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Under the supervision of the Director of Environmental Health, Safety, and Security, the Facility Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist will maintain compliance with all OSHA and EPA programs to include but not limited to Powered Industrial Trucks,
* Maintain compliant process safety management program
* Monitor and maintains EHS Compliance
* Complete Tier II, stormwater, and wastewater reporting
* Manage industrial Haz and Non Haz waste
* Interact with all employees in a cooperative and effective manner
* Ensure accuracy and legal compliance of all EHS programs, maintain all necessary documents and perform necessary analysis to make viable suggestions for improvements in the current programs or systems
* Conducts thorough and effective incident investigations to include root cause analysis, providing recommendations for solutions and prevention of future accidents
* Coordinate with Director of Environmental Health, Safety, and Security and Engineering Director on all design and construction of new equipment, facilities and processes to ensure safe and ergonomically sound working environments
* Actively participate as Chairperson of the Safety Committee
* Assist in the development of EHS training programs and conduct all safety training for employees
* Maintain up to date knowledge on all safety Department of Transportation (DOT) and environmental laws and regulations
* Maintain all safety equipment and first aid supplies
* Provide timely reports to facility staff and executive management
QUALIFICATIONS
* Must be at least 18 years of age
* Bachelor's degree in safety field preferred and/or equivalent experience, education and training that provides the preferred knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position
* CPR/AED/First Aid Certified, Instructor Certification preferred
* Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in safety REQUIRED
* Working knowledge and effective ability to train on safety codes, OSHA regulations, EPA, health regulations, hazardous material and emergency preparedness
* Knowledgeable in the applications of government regulations
* Must be able to coordinate and respond to local, state, and federal regulatory agencies
* Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
* Must have very strong organizational and communication skills
* A high degree of confidentiality, efficiency and professionalism
* Ability to focus on multiple projects while meeting deadlines
* Ability to work off shifts as needed
