Health and Safety Administrator is responsible for identifying hazardous workplace conditions. Takes samples and measurements of hazardous materials, and coordinates the removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards. Being a Health and Safety Administrator trains employees on safety, company policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to employee safety. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations and ensures necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines. Preferred qualifications: A public health, health education, or advocacy background with emphasis on sexual or domestic violence response and prevention. Experience with developing policy or monitoring program compliance with regulations. Knowledge of adult learning theory and/or training/curriculum development. Strong knowledge of databases and demonstrated experience with computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and SharePoint. Experience managing multiple projects and collaborating with various external stakeholders. Excellent communication, writing, presentation, and organizational skills.
The Health Program Administrator (HPA) will work within the Sexual Violence Prevention Unit (SVPU) to primarily provide oversight of the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) Rape Crisis Program (RCPs). The HPA will be responsible for approving new organizations that apply to become RCPs and ensuring all certified RCPs are operating in accordance with NYSDOH standards. The HPA will develop tools and processes for monitoring programs; review and approve applications for certification and recertification; provide training and technical assistance to all current or interested programs; review and approve Rape Crisis Counselor training curricula from Rape Crisis Programs; review and approve semi-annual reports for Rape Crisis Counselors; and compile and summarize data from semi-annual reports. The HPA will work closely with program experts and other partners to inform the program. The HPA may be required to travel to RCPs for site visits, as needed. Finally, the HPA will assist with other special projects related to sexual violence prevention unit.
