Job Title: Construction Project Safety Manager
Position Description: Oversee large construction projects to identify, eliminate, and control hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and or property damage using safety standard, best management practices, and injury-free environment techniques.
Essential Duties
& Responsibilities:
- Assists Business Unit Safety Director and Project Superintendent in adhering to company safety and loss control policies.
- Builds working relationships with job staff and subcontractors
- Establishes and conducts effective worker orientation program
Manages pre task planning and JHA program for all project contractors
- Assists Superintendent in preconstruction meetings with each subcontractor on the project
- Evaluates need for training and provides as necessary.
- Administers the safety program any corporate initiatives to reduce risk of incidents and costs
- Conducts safety audits per company policy
- Promotes safety work practices and safe working conditions in accordance with all State, Federal, Local regulations and owner/contractual requirements
- Builds working relationships with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies to promote safety and loss prevention
- Participates in networking, business related events, functions, and activities related to safety and loss prevention with other industry professionals/peers/staff/etc.
- Utilizes multiple specialty safety skills and knowledge to mitigate risk
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Safety/Industrial Hygiene Field or equivalent experience
Working Knowledge of Federal and State Regulations
- Ability to achieve OSHA 500 Certification
OSHA 30 Hour
First Aid & CPR certification
CSP and CHST certifications
Computer experience with Microsoft Office/Outlook
- Prefer minimum ten (10) years full time safety experience for Project Safety Manager positions but education, internships, and experience will be considered in combination
Physical Demands: Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
