Health and Safety Supervisor supervises the identification and remediation of hazardous workplace conditions. Oversees the measurement and sampling of hazardous materials, and any removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards. Being a Health and Safety Supervisor investigates, analyzes, and reports on any accidents or unsafe events and suggests remedial and preventative actions. Develops a safety conscious culture by providing workforce education on first aid, emergency/safety procedures and regulations. Additionally, Health and Safety Supervisor ensures all necessary records are maintained and are in compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations. Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a Manager. The Health and Safety Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Health and Safety Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. OVERVIEW: The Production and Quality Lead manages the daily activities of his or her area including ownership of results, coaching employees, interfacing with other departments, and meeting production goals. The position also handles production related recordkeeping include but not limited to printing labels, completing food safety checks, and ensures paperwork is completed.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:
· Coordinate the startup activities of the area including safety, quality, food safety inspection of product scheduled and the production line.
· Demonstrate proactive planning for the line and area for next day planning, safety, sanitation, maintenance and team needs. Communicate with other areas in regards to scheduling and other production related issues.
· Responsible for operating computer systems to track quality trends and production activity.
· Daily auditing of the cleaning, inspections and 5S organization of the area. Teach and provide direction to employees to meet requirements.
· Coordinate production activities and people to assure that quality and food safety standards are met.
· Troubleshoot and perform basic machine issues, call for help when troubleshooting scope is exhausted
· Assists with audit preparation as necessary
· Loading and/or unloading cylinders
· Monitor product volume, temperatures, times, and pressure readings
· Connect pipes and hoses
· Adjust valves and operate pumps
· Monitor gauges and record information as needed
· Adhere to SOP’s including knowing product type and all handling procedures involved with each processing type.
· Read and understand date codes
· Perform basic mathematical skills as need
· Operate pallet jack and forklift
· Assist in loading and unloading trucks
· Demonstrate good judgement in safeguarding customer, company, vendor, and employee information.
· Adherence to all General Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HAACCP policies
· Maintain a safe, clean, organized work area throughout the facility
· Maintain general housekeeping of production areas
· Other duties as assigned
