Health and Safety Supervisor supervises the identification and remediation of hazardous workplace conditions. Oversees the measurement and sampling of hazardous materials, and any removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards. Being a Health and Safety Supervisor investigates, analyzes, and reports on any accidents or unsafe events and suggests remedial and preventative actions. Develops a safety conscious culture by providing workforce education on first aid, emergency/safety procedures and regulations. Additionally, Health and Safety Supervisor ensures all necessary records are maintained and are in compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations. Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a Manager. The Health and Safety Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Health and Safety Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Tri-City Electric Co. is currently seeking an experienced Jobsite Safety Supervisor for an immediate opening in Des Moines, IA. The Jobsite Safety Supervisor’s primary function is to plan, implement, and supervise project safety programs in compliance with corporate safety program standards.
Main duties include but are not limited to:
Qualified candidates will have a four year occupational safety/health degree or equivalent combinations of training and related experience, construction safety experience and a thorough understanding of and the ability to enforce all federal, state, local, and company regulations. Background in electrical safety is preferred but not required.
Candidates must have the ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures as well as good interpersonal and communication skills.
