Job Description

The Safety Supervisor is responsible for the promotion of exceptionally safe teamwork with the Operations teams stationed at Signature Brands facilities. They assist in the resolution of safety issues and the performance of plant safety audits. A Safety Supervisor promotes enhanced performance and provides safety training by offering coaching, mentoring, and training to the administrators, facilitators, clerical staff and management teams. Also, they interact with Operations by providing support for department initiatives and other various programs.

Duties

• Oversees and coordinates activities of personnel to ensure a safe and healthy work environment in accordance with OSHA regulations.
• Enforces compliance of operations personnel with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules and governmental regulations.
• Consults and cooperates with supervisory/management personnel in formulating administrative and operational policies and procedures.
• Performs job inspections regularly to identify any unsafe work practices and unsafe conditions, documenting the observation forms and forwarding findings to various administrative and management personnel.
• Investigates injuries and illnesses to determine the cause and takes affirmative action toward preventing recurrence.
• Assists in the completion of project safety planning and hazard investigation with Supervisors and Managers on new jobs. It is the responsibility of the Safety Supervisor to verify that corrective processes are finished in a suitable amount of time for all identified hazards.
• Verify the completion of safety recommendations made by the insurance carrier, safety committee or any other members of management.
• Facilitates training classes for all safety initiatives, including scheduling, creation of presentations, and communications.
• Ensure that proper fire extinguishers, eyewash, and first aid supplies are kept on or near company equipment and vehicles.
• Assist in supervising the safety team.
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety Sciences, Risk Management, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
• Able to evaluate complex information and form policy recommendations.
• High attention to detail.
• High level proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Power Point and other MS Office applications
