Health and Safety Supervisor supervises the identification and remediation of hazardous workplace conditions. Oversees the measurement and sampling of hazardous materials, and any removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards. Being a Health and Safety Supervisor investigates, analyzes, and reports on any accidents or unsafe events and suggests remedial and preventative actions. Develops a safety conscious culture by providing workforce education on first aid, emergency/safety procedures and regulations. Additionally, Health and Safety Supervisor ensures all necessary records are maintained and are in compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations. Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a Manager. The Health and Safety Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Health and Safety Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. The job of a Traffic Control Flagger is the most important one on the work crew. Respectful interactions with TSS employees, DOT employees and employees of the Prime Contractor are critical and you must have the ability to receive and communicate specific instructions clearly and courteously.
Duties:
-Able to guide traffic safely through TSS work zones and protect the safety of the crews, motorist, bicyclist, pedestrians, trucks, equipment and yourself at all times.
-Must have a reliable source of transportation.
-Must have good oral and written English communication skills.
-Job regularly requires one to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time and reach with hands and arms.
-Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
-Required to be clean, neat and fully dressed in provided safety clothing and gear at all times when on the job including but not limited to safety vest and hard hat.
-Flag in accordance with the "Flagger Traffic Control" handbook and direction and training provided by the Traffic Control Maintainer (TCM) and/or Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS).
