    Department Purpose
    The Office of Nursing Education provides an educational experience that prepares learners to become members of the nursing profession and community, meeting the needs of a diverse population.

    Position Summary
    The Director of Nursing Education Programs leads the PCC Nursing Programs at all campus locations manages all associated administrative functions, including daily operations, curriculum development, supervision of faculty and staff, implementation of program policies, and administration of program budget. This position ensures program compliance with state, national, and accrediting body standards.

    This position has been identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) in accordance with Department of Education guidelines. As a CSA, the incumbent is required to report crimes that they become aware of to the Department of Public Safety and must attend related annual training.

    In accordance with Colorado Revised Statutes 24-50-135, this position has been exempted from the State Personnel System.

    Job Duties

    Essential Functions
    • Manages the nursing education programs through curriculum development, faculty development, assessment of student learning, course delivery, clinical experiences, currency with relevant accreditation requirements, and continual evaluation of course syllabi, learning resources, and teaching modalities.
    • Ensures consistent delivery of instruction with innovative methods, including accelerated courses, online and hybrid courses, flex courses, and open educational resources at all PCC campuses.
    • Participates in the development, review and revision of the CCCS nursing curriculum and complete required surveys and reports for local, state and national organizations as needed.
    • Ensures continuous quality improvement through implementation and usage of assessment of student learning outcomes.
    • Serves as the college point of contact for all accreditation processes for the nursing programs and is responsible for ensuring all accreditation standards are met.
    • Works with clinical coordinators to ensure optimal clinical experiences for students and with branch campus staff to ensure programs are consistent and any concerns are addressed.
    • Ensures that program policies and procedures are communicated and implemented consistently across campuses and in collaboration with campus personnel, making adjustments as appropriate to the changing needs.
    • Maintains of program student handbook and publications, program admissions, course scheduling.
    • Manages clinical and third-party vendor agreements/relationships.
    • Oversees departmental operations to include hiring of faculty, instructors, and staff; orienting new employees; assigning, monitoring, and evaluating work of faculty, instructors, and staff; and conduct of meetings.
    • Manages and responds to complaints from or concerning students.
    • Manages the department's budget and fiscal operations as per State of Colorado Fiscal Rules.
    • Maintains an advisory board through selection of qualified candidates, organization of meetings and follow up as needed for a minimum of two meetings per year.
    • Participates in state and local nursing organizations to remain updated on nursing issues/regulations as defined by the state.
    • Oversees and participates in student recruitment via community presentations, health fairs and program information sessions, maintain active visibility with the Pueblo Workforce Development Center and local hospitals/health providers and assess/evaluate community needs and develop/ implement strategies to support those needs.
    • Participates in selected grant-writing activities, oversees grant activities as appropriate or assigned, serves on college committees as assigned, attends required meetings, training sessions and staff development activities, and travels in-state or out-of-state as required.
    • May teach one course per semester if needed and only if administrative duties are not impacted.

    • Maintains confidentiality of student and employee information as required.
    • Completes all required compliance training within the established timeline.
    • Serves on committees and other groups as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education:

    • Master of Science in Nursing from a nationally accredited nursing program,

    Licenses or Certificates:

    • Unencumbered Colorado Registered Nurse license; eligible to obtain full-time vocational credential in Nursing programs.

    Experience:

    • Two or more years administrating an approved nursing theory and clinical education program at the associate degree level or higher.
    • Two or more years teaching in an approved nursing theory and clinical education program at the associate degree level or higher.
    • Two or more years supervisory experience, preferably in an education setting.
    • Experience as an academic department chair or similar.
    • Experience with grant application and administration.
    • Experience with budget preparation and oversight.

    Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:

    • Knowledge of laws, accreditation standards, and best practices in the administrating of a nursing education program.
    • Knowledge of current teaching pedagogy for diverse populations, including adult learners.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; working knowledge of Ellucian Banner
