Being a Health Educator develops, coordinates, and disseminates educational resources and materials. May provide health education outreach and consultation. Additionally, Health Educator requires a bachelor's degree in a related area. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD).
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the educational activities for the assigned service and participates in meeting the educational needs for patient care service in order to provide educational support to staff and patients.

May be required to work within the confines of a prison, jail, or juvenile detention center.
Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Registered Nurse (RN) with Bachelor's in Nursing or related field. Four (4) years of full time clinical RN experience. Current license or valid permit to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas.
This is an hourly non-benefit eligible position and is limited to a maximum of 19 hours per week.
