Health Educator is responsible for developing and designing health education programs meant to increase community awareness and knowledge. Conducts needs assessments and keeps up-to-date on changes in health care technology to keep program material current. Being a Health Educator develops, coordinates, and disseminates educational resources and materials. May provide health education outreach and consultation. Additionally, Health Educator requires a bachelor's degree in a related area. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Health Educator work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.   • PURPOSE:

    Provide health and wellness education, implement programs and treatments specifically designed to address patient's needs. Focus is on issues that can impact patient of El Centro Family Health such as nutrition, family planning and sexual health, fitness, cancer screenings, vaccination, hygiene and preventing the spread of infectious disease. May perform community outreach by visiting schools, nursing homes, and workplaces.


    REQUIREMENTS

    Education

    High School Diploma or Equivalent

    Experience

    No experience required.

    Certification:

    Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS), Must be obtained within 3 months of hire.

    Community Health Worker Certification must be obtained within 2 years of hire.

    Preferred

    Education: Associates degree in Health Education or related field

    Experience: 6 months of clinical experiences in a clinical environment.

    Bi-Lingual- Fluent in speaking and writing English /Spanish.
