JOB SUMMARY:
Information Specialist is responsible for the accuracy of medical information; assisting in scanning and tasking appropriate documents to physicians, completion of birth and death certificates, processing internal and external record requests, i.e.: referrals/releases, understanding of scanning dictionary and form id creation, and assists with process improvement. Coordinates patient portal inquires and patient set-up. Will provide excellent customer service to customers and PRHC staff. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
- One or more years of medical record or release of information experience.
- RHIT or equivalent certification and/or education for health information; preferred.
- Clerical and customer service experience required.
- Must have strong computer skills with keyboarding, data entry, and office machines.
- Ability to read, write, understand and communicate effectively in English.
- Strong written, oral, and positive communication skills.
- Ability to understand and carry out detailed directions with independence.
- Must demonstrate the critical thinking skills required to complete all aspects of job description.
- Must demonstrate a strong work ethic and responsibility.
- Must demonstrate ability to multi-task and handle a busy workload.
