SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Approve and deny mortgage loans

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Review residential loan application files to verify application data is complete and meets established standards, including type and amount of mortgage
• Verify accuracy of applicant’s credit and income documents
• Record data on status of loans
• Answer routine telephone inquiries from loan customers, appraisers, realtors, loan officers etc.
• Order PMI
• Determine terms and acceptability of risk of prospective business
• Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• College Degree Preferred 
• Minimum of 2 years mortgage underwriting experience
• Thoroughly familiar with FHA, VA, Conv., Portfolio and Bond Programs
• Proficient at analyzing self-employed borrowers income from tax returns etc.
• Able to structure counter-offers for customers without Originator/Underwriter assistance
• Able to identify and work out issues using own judgment in keeping with bank policies
• Able to assess risk when reviewing loan files for approval
• Work is generally performed indoors in environmentally controlled conditions
• Typically the employee may sit to perform the work.  However, there may be some standing, walking, bending and carrying of light items in the course of the work
