I. Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
-We are looking for a full time office assistant to provide support to all front office functions including patient correspondence/scheduling, maintenance of medical records, patient demographic data entry, insurance benefit verification and eligibility, etc. Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care and private insurance plans is preferred.
II. Employment Qualifications
-Prefer (but not required) 1 years working in a related healthcare/medical practice with working knowledge of medical front office procedures including use of electronic medical record, patient flow, referrals and authorizations, etc.. Computer proficiency REQUIRED including word processing, spreadsheet applications, and knowledge of electronic medical record software applications.
-Qualified applicants will possess the ability to work independently and set priorities appropriately to complete necessary tasks daily. Excellent written and oral communications skills, as well as interpersonal skills also a must. Required knowledge and experience with the use of a variety of office equipment include but are not limited to computers, printer, credit card terminal, copier, fax machine and telephone. Evidence of initiative and the ability to function independently as well as collaboratively is required.
III. Essential Job Functions
-Responsible for daily scheduling of patients to comply with therapist prescribed plans of care. Works to maintain a full schedule of visits and effectively manages cancellations and reschedules to keep cancellation rate low.
-Responsible for office functions to include adequate telephone coverage, supplies and forms, mail processing, functioning office machines, and efficient data entry support.
-Responsible for verifying and maintaining current eligibility for health insurance coverage for all patients
-Responsible for obtaining and monitoring insurance authorizations and referrals to insure all patient visits have valid referrals/authorizations per their insurance company.
IV. Other Job Functions
-Recognizes and performs other duties in the office as needed to maintain efficient office operations.
-Participates actively in quality improvement efforts.
-Will actively demonstrate excellence in service behaviors to increase patient satisfaction.
