Heavy Equipment Operator jobs in Oklahoma

Heavy Equipment Operator operates heavy equipment or machinery, such as a tractor, bulldozer, backhoe, or excavator, for the purposes of construction, demolition, or excavation. Prepares equipment and conducts routine inspections prior to operation to ensure it is safe and in working condition. Being a Heavy Equipment Operator identifies and addresses potential hazards and adheres to all safety protocols and regulations. May be responsible for scheduling minor repairs and conducting routine maintenance like cleaning and lubricating. Additionally, Heavy Equipment Operator requires a high school diploma. May require State License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Heavy Equipment Operator independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors.     Preferred candidate will have 5 years’ experience with Dozers.

    ***The preferred applicant for this position will have experience operating Dozers, Excavators, Articulated Dump Trucks, and Front-End Loaders.

    Please note that applicants with forklift, cherry picker, and/or skid steer operation must have additional heavy equipment experience (referenced above) to be considered. ***

    I. Job Summary 
    Operates a wide variety of heavy equipment vehicles that perform the spreading and compaction of construction demolition, soil remediation, commercial and residential waste disposed at the post collection facilities or particular job sites. 

    II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

    Operates heavy equipments in compliance with the company operating safety policies and procedures. 
     
    Conducts routine equipment inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment; maintains accurate records 
     
    Moves and positions raw materials and finished components with use of material moving equipments. 
     
    Follow appropriate standard operating procedures as guideline for operating and maintaining vehicle 
     
    Performs other duties as assigned. 
     
    Will be part of a team that will be required to move from job site to job site on an as needed basis.

    A. Education and Experience 
     

    Education: None required. 
     
    Experience: Five (5) years of previous experience. 
     

    B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements 
     

    None required. 
     

    C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required 
     

    Ability to operate numerous soil excavation/remediation equipment. 
     
    Ability to work within a cohesive team/unit

    Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) most of the work day; 
     
    Required to exert physical effort in handling objects less than 30 pounds occasionally; 
     
    Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc.) occasionally; 
     
    Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements most of the work day; 
     
    Normal setting for this job is: shop or field.
