Help Desk Support Assistant responds to end-user requests for technical assistance by phone, email, or ticketing system. Troubleshoots and resolves basic computer, application, system, device, access, or performance issues. Being a Help Desk Support Assistant uses established processes and procedures to document, track, and resolve reported problems and to meet operational service levels and standards. Utilizes product information or solution database to research, troubleshoot, and deliver solutions. Additionally, Help Desk Support Assistant advises users on the methods, steps, and actions to resolve and avoid future issues and provides documentation as needed. Escalates problems to appropriate levels or teams to achieve issue resolution. May support installs or upgrades of software or devices, set up user profiles, or re-set passwords. Fulfills all service level standards for response time and quality. May require an associate degree. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Help Desk Support Assistant works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.     Job Summary:

    The IT Help Desk Support Specialist provides support and maintenance for all computer software, hardware, and systems to maximize the efficiency and utilization of the systems and users.  This role serves in an internal customer service capacity to all employees for resolution of computer, printer, telephone, email, and internet problems and questions. This position is located at our Neponset facility.

    Responsibilities & Duties:

    • Provide assistance and support to users through troubleshooting computer hardware, software and all system issues, including, but not limited to telephones, pagers, printers, and video conferencing equipment.
    • Answer questions and resolve problems in person or via telephone, e-mail or internet utilizing software programs i.e. Splashtop, ShowMyPc.
    • Install, clean and modify operating systems and software programs, including but not limited to virus protection, backups, and Microsoft products.
    • Installs and maintain computer peripherals and hardware such as printers, monitors and audio equipment, video equipment, tablets, cell phones, etc.
    • Install and maintain IP based phone system.
    • Prepare and set up technology assets required for company-related meetings, presentations, trade shows, and events.
    • Maintain corporate travel hardware, including mobile computing platforms and telephones.
    • Manage, prepare, and update company’s computer knowledge base.
    • Create and maintain disk volumes.
    • Maintain Helpdesk asset management system and coordinate with co-workers assignment of request orders to ensure all repairs are properly completed.
    • Setup and maintain email accounts, user names and passwords.
    • Make recommendations on software or hardware programs and develop user manuals.
    • Provide 24/7 support for critical situations.
    • Provide training to internal and external users of all systems, including new hires.
    • Initiates procedures which comply with OSHA / MSHA requirements regarding safety issues, use of safety equipment, material safety data sheets, etc.
    • Attends Company and industry-related meetings, keeping abreast of all the latest computer technology and trends.
    • Establish individual goals which are aligned with the Company's business strategies and objectives.
    • Function as a contributing member of the department's team and other teams, as assigned.
    • Assists the department in the accomplishment of the team's goals.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Two-year degree or certificate in Computer Science or high school diploma or GED with equivalent years of computer science experience. 
    • Two or more years of prior work related experience.
