Highway Specialties is an established and growing Northwest leader in traffic control safety equipment sales and rentals. We sell, rent and manufacture traffic control equipment; message boards, arrow boards, cones, and signs and have the largest fleet of equipment in the Pacific Northwest. We are now hiring motivated individuals to be trained on the job for our sign production team. As a Sign Production Technician, you will fabricate, assemble, and repair road, highway, traffic, and information signs.

The ideal candidate will need to possess measurement skills, be able to work in a fast paced environment with great attention to detail, follow both verbal and written instruction, have good communication skills, and be able to shift gears quickly if there is a change in the project, or if another project becomes a priority.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Maintain communication with other departments around production expectations.

* Produce artwork from scratch and/or clean up provided artwork.

* Review given artwork and determine if additional work needs to be done.

* Prepare images for plotting and printing processes.

* Manipulating customizable design templates.

* Uses applicable territory sign standards and regulations and best judgement to design sign proofs for distribution.

* Provides options for or advises Customer Service and/or customers of design suggestions or changes per applicable sign standards and regulations.

* Prints, lays out, and manufactures signs for customers.

* Repairs, re-sheets, re-legends signs per customer specifications.

* Recommends purchase of supplies; receives and puts away products.

* Performs basic maintenance and repairs of printing supplies, technology, and tools.

* Maintains clean and organized shop, will call area, supplies, and tool inventory.

* Supports team by performing tasks related to organization and strong communication.

* Provides quick action on time-sensitive issues.

Other Relevant Tasks and Obligations

* Performs inventory counts.

* Assists customers picking up orders and returning products.

* Other duties as assigned.

Credentials and Qualifications

* Previous sign making experience or graphic design experience

* Experience using SAi Flexi Sign, Graphtec or similar plotters, HP Latex 360 printer or other large format printers

* Knowledge of working in Adobe Creative suite, primarily photoshop and illustrator

* Must be 18 years or older

* Must be able to lift 75 pounds

* High School Diploma or equivalent

* Must pass pre-employment drug test

* Have reliable transportation to and from work
