THIS POSITION REQUIRES A VALID WASHINGTON OR OREGON DRIVER’S LICENSE and no moving violations or accidents in the past 3 years is required.
Successful candidates for a vehicle officer are those who can self-manage their patrol routes, remain alert at all times, quickly identify and report suspicious activity, have a high level of customer service and clear communication.
Your safety is our utmost concern. Our training program includes instructions and examples of keeping yourself safe. We use a “hands-off” approach to communicate, solve problems, and de-escalate situations to ensure you keep yourself and others safe.
ALL our PPS team members receive extensive ongoing training that teaches you how to provide security in Portland’s environment. You will learn how to communicate effectively with all types of people.

This position also requires a security certification in the state of Oregon (DPSST). We have state-certified trainers. PPS provides the 14-hour state certification class free of charge. We will assist you with completing the application paperwork and fees for the security certification application process.
