Histology Technologist jobs in Indiana
Histology Technologist performs complex histological procedures used to prepare specimens of tissue for examination and analysis by a Pathologist. Performs grossing, processing, embedding, microtomy, and both routine and multiple staining of samples. Being a Histology Technologist performs quality control on completed slides. Identifies problems that may affect diagnosis and results. Additionally, Histology Technologist records observations from tests. Documents maintenance of instruments and equipment used in the lab. Complies with established laboratory policies for universal precautions and safety. Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically requires completion of an accredited histotechnology program. Requires ASCP Histotechnologist certification (HTL). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Histology Technologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Job Description
As a histology technician, you'll prepare tissue samples for pathologists. Working in a lab at a hospital, outpatient center, private lab or other healthcare facility, you'll prep samples for diagnosis, stain and mount specimens on slides, keep detailed records, and more. You'll play an important role in helping providers and patients get the answers they need.
Minimum Requirements
- At least 1 year of recent experience in relevant setting and specialty
- ASCP Certification
- BLS Certification (AHA)
- Current state license (if applicable)
