The role of Groomer-Winch Operators is to provide safe and efficient grooming of all Powder Mountain trails and slopes. Position: Groomer - Winch Operator

Position Type: Part-Time, Seasonal

Performance Expectations:

• Meets and exceeds all Level 3 grooming expectations
• Prefer that the applicant has experience with various snow and weather conditions and can operate a variety of snowcats
• Understand and perform all safety aspects of equipment operation
• Understand and perform all pre-shift equipment checks on any Powder Mountain equipment
• Understand and perform all post-shift equipment checks on any Powder Mountain equipment
• Read and understand all Powder Mountain Grooming manuals
• Acquire knowledge of the mountain (Names and locations of trails, Traverses, Lifts and other facilities)
• Be aware of fixed obstacles (Trees, Buildings, Rope lines, Trail signs and Maps)
• Prefer applicants with advanced skiing or snowboarding ability
• Ability to work safely following all procedures and policies
• Must have great communication skills, be positive and professional in delivery of information
• Ability to communicate and work well with others
• Must demonstrate great attention to detail
• Willing to help other departments as the need arises

Requirements

• Preferred 1 to 3 years’ experience with winch snowcat operations.
• Preferred heavy and grooming equipment experience (front end loaders, snow cats and related equipment)
• Basic understanding of all Pre and Post shift equipment checks
• If necessary, work hours other than scheduled pertaining to weather conditions
• Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays
• Overall understanding of Powder Mountains policies and procedures
• Good work ethic, be able to communicate in a positive clear way, be available to answer questions and concerns from your team
• Reliable transportation, preferably 4x4 vehicle

Level 3 Requirements:

• Special Projects as asked by Director of Mountain Operations
• Winch Cat
• Ability to train
• Leadership responsibilities could be asked to assist as a shift leader
• Groom designated area on your own
• Ability to cut and delineate sides of groomed trail
• Maintain ramps
• Can groom Black, Blue and Green runs
• Ability to Lead and Groom in adverse conditions
• Must have knowledge of all Powder Mountain trails and lifts

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to:

• Full range of body movements
• Reach, push, pull, lift, and carry objects that may be heavy (50 lbs)
• Prolonged periods of sitting, bending, and twisting
• Must have command of senses – sight, hearing, touch, and smell
• Vision requirements – close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception
• Walk on even/uneven/slippery terrain
• Climb/descend stairs
• Manual dexterity to operate vehicles safely on a constant basis

Work Environment:

Work is performed inside and outside the snowcat consisting of extreme temperatures, loud sounds and noises that are distracting, sun and wind exposure, inclement weather (rain, snow, ice), high altitudes (9,000 ft ). Sometimes must drive in very bright sunlight or when it is dark outside.
