The Dubuque Community YMCA is hiring a seasonal Horse Camp Lead Wrangler for our weekly horse camps held in July 8 through August 2 at Union Park Camp located at 11764 John F Kennedy Rd. The Horse Camp Director will report directly to the Branch Director and is responsible for the care and safety of all campers while coordinating and implementing all horse camp programming. Duties include:
- Care for horses on-site, including feeding, grooming, and monitoring their well-being
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment as needed for various camp projects
- Engage in physically exerting tasks to set up equipment and supplies for camp activities
Qualifications:
- Experience in camp leadership or a related field preferred
- CPR certification (included in training)
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment safely and efficiently
- Proficiency in equine care and handling is a plus
- Capability to perform heavy lifting tasks as required in a camp setting
- Knowledge of greenhouse maintenance and irrigation systems beneficial
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with children and adults alike
