Hospice Director directs, supervises, and governs the hospice program including inpatient care, home care and bereavement follow-up. Administers and maintains quality assurance, environmental, and infection control policies in accordance with facility objectives. Being a Hospice Director prepares reports for hospital administration on activities of the facility operation. Develops hospice related educational and informational programs. Additionally, Hospice Director requires a bachelor's degree of nursing. Typically reports to top management. The Hospice Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Empyrean Hospice hires Administrative Executive Directors with Nursing Experience to lead our hospice branches, day-to-day operations, and the branch’s clinical care team. Our Administrative Executive Director is responsible for a specific hospice agency, the hiring, training, and direction of its team, coordinating care delivery with the IDG that is clinically excellent and aligns with our organizational mission and in full compliance with federal and state regulations, accreditation, and guidelines, and responsibility for daily branch operations and budget adherence.
Salary or hourly rate listed is the base for this role; increase commensurate with experience.
Position Overview – Administrative Executive Director:
• Represent Empyrean Hospice with the utmost professionalism and compassion
• Manage the daily operations of the branch, its staff, the patients in its care or considering its care, and community relationships regarding hospice education and services
• Evaluate hospice services and supervise branch staff using measurable outcomes and objectives
• Oversee operational planning, budgeting, and compliance
• Ensure adequate and appropriate staffing and current clinical information and practice
• Lead and participate in IDG (Interdisciplinary Group) discussions and plans of care
• Communicate effectively with staff, other departments, services, and senior management
• Implement appropriate service policies and procedures to accomplish identified outcomes
• Direct staff handling of responsibilities including admission, discharge, transfer, revocation, and provision of service to patients
• Monitor service utilization to ensure delivery of comprehensive care and adequate space, equipment, and supplies are available
• Timely complete appropriate data collection and reporting
• Collaborate with agencies and vendors for effective management of services.
• Ensure standards of ethical business and clinical practice are prioritized

Position Qualifications
• Professionalism, compassion, empathy, and a desire to help others
• Initiative-taking, organized, with attention to detail
• 2-5 years’ experience in health care management; hospice and/or home health care experience preferred
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• 1-2 years of recent acute care experience in an institutional setting and 1-2 years of recent experience in home care
• Current licensure in State and CPR certification
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct professional and administrative personnel
• Comprehensive understanding of hospice care and the services provided to patient and family/caregiver through an interdisciplinary group
• Intimate knowledge of Medicare Hospice Certification
• Computer proficient with Microsoft suite; preferred experience with Homecare Homebase or other EMR
