Hot Oil Unit Operator jobs in Burlington, VT

Gray Rock Quarry in Milton, Vermont is currently seeking an Asphalt Plant Operator to operate the production of a hot mix asphalt batch plant used in the construction and maintenance of roadways.

Compensation:

$28-$35/hr

Pay rate will be based on factors such as related work experience, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.

Asphalt Plant Operator Responsibilities

• Directly operates hot mix asphalt plant controls and automation computer to accurately manufacture hot mix asphalt to specification
• Report directly to the quarry foreman communicating production requirements and maintenance needs
• Receive orders for products
• Ensure customers get accurate product and pricing
• Maintain the cleanliness of the plant(s), including the inside/outside of the operator’s area
• Maintain an adequate inventory of materials, such as: additives, fuel, and liquid asphalt to meet daily production needs
• Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions
• Assist in plant maintenance and in compiling reports regarding plant production and maintenance
• Work with Quality Control personnel to continuously monitor the quality of the products we produce
• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with regulations and all company safety policies and procedures using appropriate tools and protective equipment
• Continuously improve safety and productivity at the facility
• Full time position with overtime required during the peak season
• Perform other duties as assigned

Asphalt Plant Operator Profile

• GED or high school diploma
• Experience in a similar role in plant operation is preferred
• Valid driver’s license
• Mechanical ability
• Competency with computers

Qualifications

• Must have basic math skills (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, fractions, decimals, measurements)
• 2-3 years’ hot mix asphalt plant operation experience preferred but not required
• Experience in mechanical maintenance
• Process control knowledge
• Electrical knowledge
• Operate equipment in a safe and professional manner
• Operate and maintain equipment in a safe and clean condition
• Must feel comfortable working at high elevations
• Have the ability to follow through with efficiency on verbal and written instructions
• Have the ability to lift up to 70lbs

Gray Rock Quarry is a locally owned business that supplies blasted rock, crushed gravel and crushed stone and hot mix asphalt to the local construction market. We operate and maintain crushers and several types of heavy equipment including excavators, haul trucks and loaders to accomplish our production and sales goals.
