Job Summary:
The Hot Mill Quality Manager will ensure all Hot Rolling personnel are equipped to achieve maximum performance and meet quality standards for both internal and external customers. Candidate will be accountable for managing the Quality Supervisors which includes personnel scheduling, time and attendance, and assignment of job tasks. The Quality Manager will ensure that metal meets the quality standard by flowing through the process in a timely manner. Perform root cause analysis for quality issues. Maintain the QMS with updates, training, and audits.
Responsibilities:

Perform daily metal disposition of the red bin and quality prison by using the defect catalog and SAP to ensure metal flows to the next operation.

Perform data analysis using Excel, Minitab, IBA, SAP, and Optimize to improve quality, scrap rates, mill runability and reduce costs.

Perform root cause analysis on internal and external quality issues by leading QRQC Workshops and using the 8D methodology.

Perform process and quality audits to ensure compliance with the quality system.

Maintain the Quality Management System in compliance with ISO 9001 by updating the work instructions as needed and perform training with operations. Maintain KPV’s, Go-First Part Checklist, and the Defect Catalog to support the QMS.

Develop, Oversee, Analyze, and Implement Process Improvements by coordinating changes with production and support groups.

Lead quality improvements within the APU by using FMEA’s, control plans, control charts, and data analysis.

Ensure quality essential monitoring and measuring devices meet required standards by performing Gage R&R’s and calibrations.
Qualifications:

B.S. degree or higher required, preferably in a physical science or engineering field

Two or more years’ experience in an industrial environment, especially in manufacturing and in technical problem-solving roles preferred.

Experience applying statistical knowledge and problem-solving tools and skills (Six Sigma certification a plus)

Experience in ISO and TS certification is desired

Strong written skills required (drafting new procedures)

Effective oral communication skills (one-on-one, small and larger group presentations, and facilitator roles on teams)

Strong computer knowledge required - SAP, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)

Data-driven when approaching process development, process improvement, and problem-solving

Strong statistical knowledge

Available to work off-shifts and weekends

Ability to work in extreme temperatures in plant environment often requiring extensive walking or moving about the plant or standing for long periods of time

Must be able to work in a fast-paced team environment

Good communication, high level of autonomy, collaboration and interpersonal skills are equally important

Perform, understand and communicate detailed information analysis and evaluation, and have a good track record working effectively within a team-based environment

Language fluency in English. French or German would be a plus

Constellium Muscle Shoals is an aluminum manufacturing plant based in Alabama with over 1,200 employees. With its widest strip mill in the USA and a world-class recycling center, the site represents one of the largest sites within Constellium and is a world-class can recycling center, with the capacity to recycle nearly 20 billion cans per year. Muscle Shoals’ main product is aluminum can sheet for the packaging industry, particularly for beverage containers. It manufactures sheet used in all three components of an aluminum can, namely body stock, coated end stock and tab stock.
