    We re hiring a Restaurant Manager to Live. Work. Explore. just one mile from the entrance to the iconic south rim of Grand Canyon National Park!


    Job Summary:

    Under direction of Operations Manager this position is responsible to assist with floor supervision and oversee the daily dining and beverage outlet operations (The Canyon Star Steakhouse and The Canyon Star Saloon). This includes all aspects of guest service, cleanliness of the restaurant facilities and building employee relationships. In addition, this position supports the Operations Manager with advanced administrative responsibilities including using Kronos, accurately logging invoices; tracking uniform usage and overseeing all food outlet supplies. It is anticipated that this person will be working as a floor manager 70% of the time and will be performing training and administrative duties 30% of the time.


    The Details:

    Pay: $53,560 per year
    Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for assisting in overseeing the daily operation of all dining outlets to maximize profitability, minimize legal liability and conform to the regulatory guidelines.
    • Responsible for effective execution of all Xanterra Tusayan, LLC food and beverage hospitality standards, procedures, policies and environmental program.
    • Responsible for compliance with all health and safety regulations and enforcing sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of dining and food service areas. Responsible for reporting all maintenance repair requests in a timely manner.
    • Assists with conducting TIPS & Serv-Safe classes. Tracking of front of house (FOH) staff to be in compliance with TIPS and Arizona Liquor Law.
    • Ensure adherence to budget controls. Records daily sales and labor costs on the Actuals spreadsheet to monitor labor costs.
    • Assist with placing liquor, wine & beer orders in a timely manner.
    • Ensure all guest complaints (food quality and service) and employee s concerns/issues are investigated, resolved, and handled in a professional manner.
    • Work with Back of House Manager for the efficient buffet set-up, maintenance and breakdown in accordance with current timetable.
    • Responsible for conducting daily Service Briefings and training staff.
    • Perform periodic walk-through in the dining room and business unit(s); working closely with all BOH Managers to look at all areas of food service to ensure food quality, consistency, presentation, cleanliness, and safety is maintained.
    • Ensure proper accounting procedures are in place and are enforced for check-outs, voids, comps, spec sheets, special event billing and tours.
    • Ensure all side work duties are assigned, enforced, and completed.
    • Responsible for completing the weekly manager schedules and scheduling of employees as required to meet business needs.
    • Responsible for administering corrective actions fairly and consistently.
    • Follow up daily on Company programs, including but limited to Sustainability programs ensuring adherence to the recycling programs, ISO 14001 goals and education of staff employees.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • 2-5 years previous food service management experience with a thorough knowledge of food and beverage industry.
    • Employment is contingent upon successful certification by Serv-Safe & Coconino Health Department and TIPS Certification.
    • Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs (Word and Excel) to communicate effectively; to approve Kronos and enter comps and voids when necessary.
    • Must have good organizational skills with the ability to maintain flexibility in carrying out daily job duties, organize and manage multiple priorities and tasks while providing leadership to a diversified staff.
    • Must possess good leadership and communication skills to effectively motivate staff to the expected Xanterra Tusayan, LLC standard of excellence in guest service.
    • Must accommodate our guests in the most professional manner possible.
    • Must be able to establish and maintain an effective professional working relationship with staff, co-workers, directors, and other departments; by working together in a positive work environment.
    • Must possess good interpersonal skills with the ability to read, write, and speak English; communicate professionally, effectively and clearly face-to-face and in written communication with all levels of guests, staff, managers, Operations Manager and General Manager.
    • Must communicate with other departmental managers, and the General Manager and/or Operations Manager regarding guests concerns or complaints, employees issues and/or concerns; maintenance repair needs; and suggestions for improvement on the efficiency and operation of the restaurant and business unit(s).
    • Ensure that staff is adhering and in compliance with all prescribed Company, statutory/regulatory polices and procedures regarding worker safety (OSHA), food handling requirements, the sale of alcoholic beverages, vehicle operation and risk management.
    • Must have a full understanding of company policies to be able to objectively observe and evaluate work performance of all employees on staff to ensure compliance, while providing a safe and healthy work environment.
    • Responsible for coaching and mentoring staff to a level of acceptable work performance. When necessary, confer with Operations Manager and/or General Manager to provide the necessary written documentation for an employee s evaluation, corrective action reports and/or accident/injury reports.
    • Must be able to maintain acceptable level of performance and positive image, to complete tasks in a safe, professional, productive and efficient manner.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science degree in hotel/restaurant management is desirable. Will consider a combination of practical experience and education as an alternate.
    • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) language skills a plus.
