Summary
Responsible for examining plans of commercial, industrial and single and multi-family projects to determine conformance with assigned county or surrounding counties, and City codes and ordinances. Performs professional duties involving the review and checking of plans including but not limited to, Hydrology and Hydraulics, WQMP, LID, Site Grading, & SD (as needed). Possesses communication, technical writing, and presentation skills, and is capable of independently evaluating, selecting, and applying engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Team Leadership
-
Leads and provides day-to-day guidance to staff
-
Reviews/approves timesheets, expenses, and training request of assigned personnel

Working with Business Line leadership and HR, responsible for leading interview process to select and hire new employees

Assists with the onboarding process of new employees
-
Coordinated with Site Leader and local administrative staff to identify and prepare office/cubicle space for employees ahead of their start date

Coordinates with IT to procure computer equipment/mobile devices needed for new employees
-
Meets with new employees during their initial days of employment to provide them with a warm welcome, help them get integrated with the team and project tasks, and help familiarize them with HR Green systems/processes

Conducts regularly occurring group meetings with team members (bi-weekly or as-needed)

Responsible for providing constructive feedback to staff, and, working with the Business Line leadership and HR, addresses staff performance issues in a timely and sufficient manner

Responsible for communicating and supporting conformance to company policies and procedures

Sets annual goals with staff and conducts Mid-Year performance conversations and Annual Performance Evaluations with staff and PL

Engages in development-focused discussions with staff and assists staff in identifying and pursuing activities and project tasks aligned with their development objectives

Identifies staffing needs and communicated such needs to PL. Enters position requisitions in ADP

Assists with the off-boarding process of exiting employees
-
Informs HR upon receipt of letters of resignation from staff
-
Collects company-owned equipment (laptop, cell phone, building/office swipe cards/keys, parking pass, etc.) on employee’s last day
Other Duties and Responsibilities
-
Reviews engineering plans, reports, and supporting calculations submitted for residential, commercial, and industrial developments to ensure compliance with city and county design guidelines and regulations (conditions of approval, master plans, low impact development, etc)

Checks for accuracy of design in conformance with City Standards and Check Lists.

Works independently and as a team member; recognizes and sets priorities and meets deadlines.

As needed, performs record keeping and documentation of plan check reviews.

As needed, monitors and updates plan check log on a weekly basis in Microsoft Excel.
Education and Experience
-
Requires bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in civil engineering or closely related field.

Requires 10 years’ experience in civil engineering industry, preparing studies such as Hydrology and WQMP.

Preferred a minimum of 10 years’ experience as a plan checker reviewing plans and hydrology and WQMP reports and related grading or improvement plans.

Candidate must be familiar with computer operation (MS Office).

Successful completion of EIT or PE is preferred.
