Salary: $13.50 - $15.00 / hour
Job Overview: Job duties of the Programs Coordinator involve providing exceptional support to the programs department through the coordination of program activities at the Humane Society of Scott County. These programs currently include, but will not be limited to, the volunteer program, foster program, humane education, adoption events, lost and found program, transfer program, and front desk duties and adoption support as assigned. The Programs department is a team of four employees. This position is the primary lead for the volunteer program and serves as support for other duties listed in this description.

Volunteer Coordination (Primary Focus):
- Responsible in the recruitment and retention of volunteers for the Humane Society of Scott County
- Coordinate training for volunteers with department supervisors regarding specific volunteer jobs/programs
- Responsible for Group/Corporate Volunteer groups at the shelters
- Input volunteer data and hours in volunteer software
- Aides in special event planning to include recruiting current volunteers for assistance
- Responsible for creating new ideas for volunteer development and engagement
- Develop and coordinate ongoing educational trainings for volunteers
- Attend professional meetings and attend community events to promote the Humane Society of Scott County
- Act as a liaison between the Humane Society of Scott County volunteers and its employees
- Have thorough understanding and working knowledge of volunteer programs
- Organize and present volunteer orientations in group, individual, and virtual settings
Other Duties:
- Greeting and interacting with all customers, fosters, and volunteers in a friendly, welcoming manner, both in person, via electronic communication, and over the phone
- Create and maintain records with a high level of accuracy, including but not limited to inputting new customers and/or animals into our database, updating customer or animal information into the database, and conversations with potential adopters, owners of animals currently at our shelter and owners of missing animals.
- Maintain the lost and found program by supporting lost and found volunteers, posting impounded animals to lost and found community pages and updating their status if redeemed, and destroying old lost reports
- Create and present educational presentations to public groups
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of one (1) year prior experience in an animal shelter, social services, or similar setting OR two (2) years of clerical customer service experience
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record is required, with the ability to demonstrate and maintain a safe driving record while employed
- Maintain a positive working relationship with organization volunteers, fosters, donors, and clients
- Ability to lift 50lbs regularly
- Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time dependent upon
- Disease transmission prevention knowledge required
- Completion of Fear Free Shelters Program or ability to complete program within 1 month from the date of hire
- Weekend and holiday availability required
- Proficiency of Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to excellence demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes
- Strong interpersonal skills are necessary
- Ability to maintain positive working relations with volunteers, staff, board members, donors, clients, and visitors

Pay: $13.50 - $15.00 per hour
