Waypoint’s client is seeking an ISSO Level 2 to join their growing team. This position offers a pivotal mid-level role within the organization, offering expertise and guidance on secure configuration and operation. Applying knowledge and experience with standard information system security concepts, practices, and procedures to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive information. Providing advice and assistance to the Government regarding various aspects of information systems security.
Responsibilities:- Provide expert advice and assistance to the Government regarding the secure configuration and operation of NRO's IT assets.
- Apply knowledge and experience with standard information system security concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Implement and enforce network security principles, practices, and implementations.
- Integrate information systems into a physical security environment, ensuring cross-functional compatibility.
- Maintain working knowledge of system functions, security policies, technical security safeguards, and operational security measures.
- Understand system methodologies including client-server, web hosting, policy servers, firewalls, WAN, LAN, switches, and routers.
- Detect and prevent computer security compromises in a networked environment.
- Manage configuration management, system maintenance, and integration testing.
- Utilize tools to prevent and negate malicious code effectively.
- Understand Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) tools for scanning removable and fixed media.
- Explain Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) 503 in clear language.
- Support evidentiary forensics and preservation.
- Troubleshoot technical configurations and make recommendations for protecting classified and sensitive data.
- Translate technical information into plain English for non-technical stakeholders.
- Apply risk management philosophy to security challenges and articulate solution pros and cons clearly.
- Demonstrate proficiency with various computer operating systems and database maintenance.
- Analyze complex technical configuration management documents.
- Elicit, articulate, and document information in a well-organized manner.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Utilize Microsoft Office Suite effectively.
- Adhere to all applicable NRO, Intelligence Community (IC), and Department of Defense (DoD) policies, procedures, and operating instructions related to IT/IA/IM.
- Communicate effectively with military personnel, civilians, and contractors at all levels.
- Prioritize work to meet deadlines and manage the workflow of the ISSO team.
- Correlate audit results between various systems and users, notifying the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) of any discrepancies.
- Bachelor's Degree or higher with 2 years of relevant experience, OR High School GED and 6 years of relevant experience, OR Associate's Degree with 4 years, OR Master's Degree or higher with 0-2 years.
- Thorough understanding and application of network security principles, practices, and implementations.
- Working knowledge of cross-functional integration of information systems into a physical security environment.
- Familiarity with system functions, security policies, technical security safeguards, and operational security measures.
- Understanding of system methodologies and ability to detect and prevent computer security compromises.
- Proficiency in configuration management, system maintenance, and integration testing.
- Ability to utilize tools for preventing and negating malicious code effectively.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
- Strong ability to prioritize work and manage workflow effectively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and analytical skills for correlating audit results.
- Familiarity with applicable NRO, IC, and DoD policies, procedures, and operating instructions related to IT/IA/IM.
