Data Manager/Analyst

  • GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY: The Data Analyst is responsible for overseeing the Rhode Island Nurses Institute Middle College Charter High School’s (RINI) comprehensive strategy for managing and using student data. The Data Analyst provides reports for the analysis and interpretation of assessment data as it relates to individual student achievement and school improvement. The Data Analyst is responsible for maintaining accurate and confidential data files and will work to support data literacy training for teachers and administrators in the use of data to improve instruction. This position will also apply appropriate statistical measurements to data, review school and State data to develop comparison trends, and design and develop reports as requested. In addition, the Data Manager will be expected to manage the PowerSchool student information system and its relevant applications, as it relates to accountability metrics and state reporting.

    Leadership:

    • Creates and continuously improves a comprehensive strategy for collecting, managing, and using data.
    • Develops, maintains, and disseminates role-specific training for all staff members on PowerSchool and utilization of data systems, tools, and reports.
    • Provides reports to School Leadership and the Board of Directors to assist in the establishment of numeric targets related to the RINI school-wide plan.
    • Collaborates with School and Program Leaders to develop and implement data cycles that drive continuous improvement.
    • Reviews system-level data in PowerSchool, as well as output of reports - particularly those with fiscal implications - for errors and consistency prior to submission.

    MTSS and Attendance:

    • Collaborates with School Leaders in the establishment and facilitation of data-informed Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) - including academics, attendance, and behavior - through a systematic, continuous improvement framework in which data-based problem solving and decision-making is practiced across all levels of the educational system for supporting students.

    Data Operations and Quality:

    • Manages the RINI student information system, PowerSchool, and other databases by implementing clear protocols to ensure data quality and integrity.
    • Oversees staff execution of data entry to ensure the accuracy of tracking information that reflects school and program operations, key performance metrics, and outcome data.
    • Optimizes database systems and serves as the point of contact with 3rd party database vendors regarding development and technical support.
    • Leads the design, development, and management of reports and dashboard solutions to ensure that the RINI staff at all levels of the organization have the information needed to make informed decisions.

    Data Reporting:

    • Provides additional data reporting and analysis as needed for external accountability, compliance, or development tasks.
    • Develops the data and evaluation support needed for strategic initiatives including expansion, replication and cross-school collaboration.

    Other:

    • Performs such other duties and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by Principal or Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and/or necessary to perform the functions of the position.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
    • At least five (5) years of relevant professional experience.
    • Experience as a PowerSchool administrator and technical contact required.
    • Experience in working in an urban, charter school K-12 educational setting preferred - not required.
    • Demonstrated success managing multiple complex projects.
    • Expert fluency with Microsoft Office platforms.
    • Expert fluency in Google Suite platforms.
    • Experience managing data systems and processes and analyzing data with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Strong quantitative and technology skills with demonstrated ability to quickly learn new systems.
    • Experience with statistical software and data visualization.
    • Current B.C.I.
    • Proof of U.S. Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
