Human Resources (HR) Assistant

  • Robert Half is partnering with a local organization seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated HR Assistant to join our team, primarily focusing on benefits administration and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) coordination. The ideal candidate for this CONTRACT role will possess strong organizational skills, a proactive attitude, and excellent communication abilities to support our employees' needs regarding benefits and leave management.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Benefits Administration:
    • Assist in the administration of employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and retirement plans.
    • Coordinate new hire enrollment processes and facilitate benefits orientations for employees.
    • Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries related to benefits eligibility, coverage, and claims.
    • Process benefits-related paperwork, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Collaborate with external vendors, brokers, and insurance providers to resolve issues and optimize benefits offerings.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulations, and best practices in benefits administration.
    1. FMLA Coordination:
    • Assist employees with FMLA requests by providing guidance on eligibility, documentation requirements, and leave entitlements.
    • Coordinate FMLA paperwork, including leave applications, medical certifications, and return-to-work documentation.
    • Track FMLA usage, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
    • Communicate with employees, supervisors, and HR team members to facilitate smooth transitions during FMLA leaves.
    • Collaborate with management to manage staffing adjustments and workload distribution during employee absences.
    1. General HR Support:
    • Provide general administrative support to the HR department, including file maintenance, data entry, and record-keeping.
    • Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding processes, including conducting background checks and preparing employment documentation.
    • Support HR initiatives and projects as assigned, contributing to the continuous improvement of HR processes and practices.


    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
    • 1-2 years of experience in HR, with specific exposure to benefits administration and FMLA coordination preferred.
    • Familiarity with federal and state regulations governing employee benefits and leave management, including FMLA, ADA, and HIPAA.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive employee information.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and work independently or collaboratively within a team environment.
