    The HR Business Partner (HRBP) consults with internal clients to effectively implement human resource programs, policies and initiatives designed to sustain a positive work environment and to achieve business objectives of the division/organization. The HRBP participates as an active and involved partner in the development and execution of customer-specific and organizational business plans and strategies. The role formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added services to management and team members. The HRBP acts as the primary point of contact for the designated leadership and team members on interpreting human resource policies, procedures, and practices. The role also consults with, coaches, and trains leaders on how to achieve operational and strategic objectives consistent through human resource objectives for the organization.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    • Develops and executes HR plans and strategies to accomplish business objectives for assigned areas. Ensures that human resource services delivered are value added, effective and consistent with both departmental and organizational business and strategic objectives.
    • Provides necessary consulting support and takes proactive steps to enhance the growth of a performance-based culture in areas of assigned responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, providing consultation on performance management issues, fostering a learning environment and influencing leadership on appropriate rewards and recognition functions for their staff.
    • Acts as the first point of contact for leadership group and team members. Consults with and trains customers on a wide spectrum of HR issues related to guidance on performance management, workforce engagement, total compensation, human resources policies and protocols. Provides consulting advice and direct service where appropriate on total compensation and other HR issues. Provides counsel on employment law related concerns such as ADA, FMLA, FLSA, Title VII, etc.
    • Is proactive in identifying workforce engagement opportunities to improve and enhance the environment and takes initiative in developing and implementing appropriate action plans. Works with assigned customers on complex employee issues (i.e. advocacy concerns, investigations, progressive discipline, harassment or discrimination allegations and workplace violence situations).
    • Leads in the design, development and implementation of special projects and human resource initiatives, either as initiated by the HRBP or as assigned by HR leadership. These projects could involve organizational development strategies e.g. organizational restructuring or redesign, strategic planning, change management, leadership development, and conflict resolution.
    • Participates in activities related to creating and maintaining a positive work environment to include working with leadership and team members on resolving cultural and organizational issues. This will include improving work relationships, building morale, and increase productivity and retention.
    • Coordinates, facilitates, and participates in preparing and conducting employee grievances, and appeals. May participate in administrative activities such as unemployment, Worker’s Compensation, and other employment-related programs as assigned by management.
    • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR team to develop solutions and influence programs and policies.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Required Skills/Abilities:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Critical thinking skills and ability to use tools across a variety of platforms to analyze data and provide informed HR recommendations.
    • Strong knowledge and experience in HR policies and programs.
    • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, employee relations, performance management, career development and federal and state respective employment laws.
    • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
    • Ability to work independently with excellent time management skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines.
    • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
    • Minimum of 6 years of experience in the field of Human Resources and Management.
    • Demonstrated experience in leveraging HR practices to drive successful business results.
    • Bachelor's degree preferred.
    • HR certification desired either through SHRM (SHRM-CP) or HRCI (PHR).

    SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED:
    Knowledge of O365 with intermediate to advanced knowledge in Word and Excel. Experience with Raiser’s Edge NXT or other CRM required. Experience participating and hosting video conferencing platforms.

    Salary Range:
    $70,000 - $85,000 (The salary range is based on the value of the position in the Washington, DC Metro Area and may be adjusted up or down according to the position’s value in other locations).
