HVAC Mechanic jobs in Brownsville, TX
HVAC Mechanic performs maintenance and service repairs on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems. Installs new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines. Being an HVAC Mechanic follows blueprints or engineering specifications to install units. Performs troubleshooting to identify the cause of problems. Additionally, HVAC Mechanic maintains and secures a spare parts inventory. Recommends purchasing maintenance equipment and supplies as required to improve processes and efficiencies. Typically requires an apprenticeship and/or completion of technical training. Requires a high school diploma. The regulations governing the location may require an HVAC Mechanical State License and EPA Section 608 Certification (CFC). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The HVAC Mechanic works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Overview
The Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, reconditioning, and maintaining diesel and heavy equipment, as required, and fulfilling administrative functions required under the maintenance processes.
Qualifications
Candidate Requirements- Four (4) years of experience working with diesel engines and heavy equipment (e.g., forklifts, terminal tractors, automobiles, top loaders, etc.)
- Familiarity with hydraulic systems, diesel engine repairs, pneumatic and electrical systems
- Ability to read and understand hydraulic and electrical schematic diagrams
- Tools required to perform equipment maintenance and repair
- Clean MVR and dependable mode of transportation to and from work
- Excellent communication in English, Spanish a plus
- The ability and willingness to work in a team environment
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must have a TWIC (Transportation Worker identification Credential)
- Must be willing to travel, as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Observe the General Safety Rules.
- Repair and maintain heavy equipment, including cranes, as needed.
- Perform diagnosis, repair, and reconditioning of machine systems and components as needed.
- Perform planned maintenance and inspections.
- Operate and test repaired equipment and confirm that specifications are met.
- Complete thorough documentation on all reports and forms as required with work assignments.
- Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor in a professional and efficient manner.
- Seek and participate in appropriate training opportunities.
- Work is 100% outdoors
- Candidate will be exposed to weather conditions like heat, rain & cold on daily basis. And in some occasions will work in closed spaces (warehouse, vessel hatch, etc.)
- Capable of walking, bending, stooping, climbing ladders up to 100ft high and have fast physical reactions (jump, move)
- Ability to work in a noisy environment
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, extended hours, holidays, and/or weekends, as needed
