HVAC Mechanic jobs in New Mexico

Job Summary:

The HVAC Mechanic will install, repair, and maintain the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system within all locations within the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Installs new HVAC units in commercial buildings.
• Installs ductwork and thermostats to control the HVAC system.
• Performs routine maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure they operate properly.
• Inspects and troubleshoots problems with existing HVAC units.
• Repair or replace defective parts in units and equipment and their controls, including thermostats, automatic switches, fan controls, log switches, damper motors, louvers, relays, filters, controls, belts, compressors, heat exchangers, high limit controls, pressure controls, safety valves, and automatic gas valves.
• Operate a variety of hand and power tools.
• Installs replacement parts on existing HVAC units.
• Maintains inventory of replacement parts and submits orders for replacements.
• Performs general maintenance as needed.
• Work on special projects as assigned.
• Responsible for preventive maintenance program on all equipment.
• Delivery driver for equipment and product across the State.
• Drive in-state or across state lines to pick up machinery and other products.
• Complies with company and industry safety standards.
• Comply with all ASI and OSHA guidelines and feel comfortable ensuring other employees are following.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager.

Education and/or Work Experience and Skills Requirements:

• HVAC Certification is required.
• Must be able to work independently and be self-accountable for all projects.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems and equipment.
• Ability to use power and hand tools.
• Ability to use thermometers, pressure gauges, and other testing devices to evaluate HVAC systems.
• Ability to read operation and repair manuals for HVAC systems.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Excellent mechanical skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Vocational/technical school training or apprenticeship required.

Physical Requirements:

• Physically able to work on HVAC units to include standing, sitting, and/or walking.
• Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
• Will be required to work in settings with extreme cold or extreme heat, depending on the time of year.
• Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, crawling, or climbing ladders.
• Required the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 75 pounds.
• Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases.
• Must be able to travel across the State approximately 25% of the time. This includes being eligible to drive for the company.
