HVAC Supervisor supervises and coordinates the operations, maintenance and service repairs on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems. Oversees the installation of new units and replacement parts and ensures work is completed according to company, product, or engineering specifications and established safety guidelines. Being an HVAC Supervisor conducts quality testing and inspections. May authorize equipment, supplies, parts, or repairs purchases. Additionally, HVAC Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree. Requires an HVAC Mechanical State License and EPA Section 608 Certification (CFC). Typically reports to a manager. The HVAC Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be an HVAC Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     BASIC PURPOSE:
    Manages HVAC support team by planning, permitting, and scheduling installations and repairs at Concord communities.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Interviews, selects, hires, trains, and supervises HVAC Lead Support Technicians. Provides for safety instruction, equipment, and devices and ensures that employees are aware of safety and quality standards. Provides operational training and technical direction and assists staff in the investigation and resolution of problems. Assigns and checks work. Evaluates performance and provides counseling and coaching to employees. Recommends, initiates and documents disciplinary measures as required. Monitors and records attendance and authorizes timecards. Initiates personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, and terminations. Maintains harmonious employee/employer relations.
    • Schedules HVAC support team to conduct HVAC service calls to Concord communities on a daily basis. Monitors satisfactory completion of service calls.
    • Orders new equipment, parts and materials as needed.
    • Assists in developing content and conducting training for the following classes: EPA Certification, R-410A Certification, HVAC I and HVAC II.
    • Conducts service calls and installations regularly to assure the teams are remaining current.
    • Provide licensing requirements for the State of Florida. Apply for permitting and certify work and meet onsite with local jurisdictions to assure permitting is completed for new installations.

     

    Pay for this position is commensurate with experience of candidate.

    Qualifications


    Knowledge and Experience

    • High school diploma and HVAC/maintenance training applicable to the industry are required.
    • Must have advanced knowledge of the following: HVAC refrigeration recovery, rebuild procedures for a variety of R-22 equipment, repair, service, and installation procedures on a variety of R-22 and R-410A HVAC systems, mechanical codes, systems, and assemblies used in multi-family HVAC and the long-term maintenance of same, and computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Must be able to demonstrate an ability to read schematic drawings, have a good command of the English language, have good verbal/written communication skills and be able to develop specifications, policies and procedures and render them in written form to be used by site staff, vendors, and suppliers.
    • EPA and R-410A Certifications are also required.Minimum of five years of experience troubleshooting, charging, and performing repairs and installations on HVAC R-22 and R-410A systems (straight cool and heat pump) as well as replacing air handlers and condensers required.
    • Minimum five years of experience managing at least two direct reports and advanced knowledge of building duct systems with fiber board and flex also required.
    • Class B FL state certification is required for this position.
