POSITION SUMMARY

The Emergency Department supervisor, under the direction of the Emergency Services/Infusion Manager, will act as a resource for staff, a patient advocate and as a liaison for providers, leadership, and other departments.

This position will also coordinate the Level 3 trauma program and the Stroke Readiness program in accordance with all the applicable rules and regulations.    

Directly supervises a varying number of employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

QUALIFICATIONS

The Emergency Department Supervisor must have experience and/or knowledge and ability to work in the Emergency Department and healthcare leadership experience preferred.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with an associate degree or higher. Current Minnesota RN license.  Three to five years nursing experience in an Emergency Department preferred.  One year Supervisory/Management experience preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

BLS, ACLS, CALS, PALS or ENCP and TNCC certification required or willing to obtain. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Level 3 trauma program and Stroke Readiness program coordination
• Assist in staff management including hiring, yearly reviews, staffing, education, orientating, conflict resolution, coaching and discipline
• Serves as a liaison between nursing staff, leadership, physicians, and other departments effectively to ensure patients are receiving safe quality of care
• Assist in reviewing existing policy, procedures and performance improvement plans for the Trauma and Stroke programs
• Assist with Quality assurance program including: Review, data collection, chart audits and performance improvement projects
• Safeguard security of confidentiality of data/ information according to the HIPAA guidelines
• Other duties may be assigned
