Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Industrial Designer to join our New Product Development team at our Global Headquarters in Sterling, Illinois.

The Industrial Designer II is an innovator, bringing aesthetic and ergonomic appeal to new products. The Industrial Designer II supports the New Product Development process through end-user research, sketching, comparative product analysis, model making, functional/ergonomic studies and CAD modeling to meet Marketing and Engineering requirements.

Essential Functions:

1. Design and innovate new products and make design changes to existing products.
2. Develop skills to effectively manage Industrial Design projects.
3. Professionally communicate and present new designs to Marketing and Engineering on the design and functionality of products.
4. Advanced use of industrial design software to design products and to ensure internal components work together and fit properly.
5. Build detailed prototypes for sales meetings, market research and consumer testing.
6. Determine suitability and cost effectiveness of materials and processes used to manufacture products.
7. Consult with Engineering to solve mechanical and molding issues.
8. Create and develop concepts and specifications that optimize the function, value, and appearance of products for mutual benefits of both user and manufacturer.
9. Assist in training and development of other Industrial Designers in core skillsets.
10. Travels as necessary to fulfill requirements of the position, domestically and potentially internationally.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design with 4-6 years of industry related experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong problem solving and analytical abilities
• Strong team player with a positive attitude that sets an example for other team members
• Demonstrated proficiency with Rhino or similar design-based software
• Proficiency using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and KeyShot
• Excellent organizational skills
• Advanced knowledge and application of good design for manufacturing principles
• Highly effective multitasker, with the ability to work independently or collaboratively
• Appreciation and respect for the diversity of individuals in the workplace along with the ability to model the Company's values of respect for people, teamwork, and continuous improvement
