Job Description
The Industrial Engineer will be responsible for analyzing and improving our production processes, identifying areas for efficiency and cost savings, and implementing best practices to enhance overall operational performance. This includes developing and optimizing processes and procedures in a heavy steel manufacturing environment with typical manufacturing operations such as material handling, arc welding, thermal cutting, surface grinding, machining, and coatings. The ideal team member will have a strong background in manufacturing processes, operational excellence methodologies and excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Essential Functions Performed by the Position
Analyze and evaluate existing production processes to identify areas for improvement in terms of efficiency, productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Develop and implement process improvement initiatives, utilizing OpEx methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and Kaizen.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and quality assurance, to identify process bottlenecks and develop solutions to optimize workflow and reduce waste.
Conduct studies to determine optimal work methods and standardize processes.
Design and implement production layouts and workstations to maximize efficiency and minimize material handling.
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions to ensure consistency and adherence to quality standards.
Identify and implement automation and technology solutions to streamline production processes and improve overall efficiency.
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for production issues and non-conformances.
Monitor and analyze production data and metrics to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
Complete feedback throughout organization (estimation, proposals, engineering, production) on performance and costs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience as an Industrial/Manufacturing Engineer in a manufacturing facility.
Strong background in Operation Excellence methodologies and programs
Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, welding symbols and familiar with CAD software.
Proficient in process analysis, optimization, and improvement techniques.
Knowledge of production planning, scheduling, and capacity analysis.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and teamwork skills and the persistence to drive change.
Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to manufacturing.
